Description:Rich specimen of tan-colored prismatic diopside crystals (labeled by Shepard as augite) lining the inner surfaces of a shallow cavity in a mica-rich matrix. This old specimen has Shepard's inked number on the rear with matching handwritten labels. Ex. Charles Upham Shepard (1804-1886); ex. Amherst College collection
