Mineral:Sphalerite (Spinel-law twinned crystals) with Calcite
Locality:Trepca District, 10 km east of Kosozska Mitrovica, Kosovo
Description:Lustrous black sphalerite crystals to 25 mm with overgrowth of translucent colorless calcite to 10 mm with rounded rhombohedral form. The sphalerite crystals are complexly twinned following the Spinel Law on the {111} plane resulting in complex patterns. Ex. Bob Holzer (1934-2009) collection
