Mineral:Quartz pseudomorphs after Anhydrite
Locality:Montclair State University parking lot excavation, Essex County, New Jersey
Description:Translucent colorless quartz crystals with rhombohedral pseudomorphic molds after prismatic anhydrite crystals. The anhydrite formed first and was overgrown by the quartz crystals, then the anhydrite dissolved leaving the hollow molds. Ex. Joe Cilen (1916-1997) #18251; collected May 1960 by Nick Facciolla (1907-2008), author of Minerals of Laurel Hill, N.J.
