Mineral:Quartz pseudomorphs after Glauberite
Locality:Houdaille Quarry (Consolidated Quarry), Little Falls Twp., north of Montclair State University, Essex County, New Jersey
Description:Translucent pale-gray quartz pseudomorphs after tapered prismatic glauberite crystals (not the more common anhydrite). The glauberite crystallized first, then was coated with quartz microcrystals. When the glauberite later dissolved it left the cavities. Ex. John Geiges collection #505
