Mineral:Spinel and Phlogopite in Franklin Marble
Locality:Lime Crest Quarry (Limecrest), Sussex Mills, 4.5 km northwest of Sparta, Sussex County, New Jersey
Description:Translucent gray octahedral spinel crystals to 10 mm that were exposed by dissolving the surrounding translucent Franklin Marble with bronze-colored phlogopite mica crystals to 4 mm. Many areas of the spinel are only partial crystals.
