Mineral:Quartz pseudomorphs after Calcite
Locality:Faywood Mine, Jose District, Cooks Peak, Luna County, New Mexico
Description:Well formed quartz pseudomorphs after scalenohedral calcite to 25 mm. The quartz formed over the calcite first, then the calcite dissolved away naturally leaving a thin pseudomorph. Two have the tip broken to expose the thin structure.
Overall Size:8x6x2 cm
Crystals:5-25 mm
