Locality:Ratnapura District, Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka
Description:Lustrous black 9 mm octahedral spinel crystal on a large 70 mm green-black forsterite crystal. The black color is caused by iron impurities and is often labeled as ferroan spinel or pleonaste, both obsolete mineral species. Ex. B. Gaber collection; ex. RMS 2004 auction
