Locality:Shakopee Formation, Minnesota
Description:Lustrous brown quartz crystals completely covering one face of fossilized stromatolite. The brown color of the quartz crystals is caused by microscopic red hematite inclusions that form phantom-growth zones in the quartz crystals. Ex. Potomac Museum Group (Golden Valley, MN)
