Mineral:Quartz pseudomorphs after Calcite with Sphalerite
Locality:Portland Mine, Ouray County, Colorado
Description:Translucent white quartz epimorphs after calcite crystals that are hollow on the underside with late-growth of a translucent green 4 mm sphalerite crystal. Calcite formed first, was coated with quartz, then the calcite dissolved, and sphalerite formed.
Overall Size:4x3x3 cm
Crystals:micro to 4 mm
