Locality:Uva Province, Sri Lanka
Description:Doubly-terminated transparent pink sapphire crystal with tabular hexagonal form and flat basal pinacoid terminations. This is a pink sapphire, a gem variety of the mineral species corundum. If the sapphire were deeper pink it would be called ruby. Ex. W. Frech (1913-1998) collection #767; originally acquired in 1974
