Mineral:Opal pseudomorph after Clam (var. Opalized Clam)
Locality:Coober Pedy, South Australia, Australia
Description:Translucent white opal pseudomorph after a bivalve clam. The clam was buried, then replaced molecule by molecule by opal, resulting in the shape of a clam made of opal. Several areas in the opal show green-blue internal fire (play of colors).
