Locality:Spruce Pine District, Mitchell County, North Carolina
Description:Thin crust of translucent pale-green hyalite, the colorless variety of opal, that fluoresces bright green under SW UV illumination. When viewed under magnification globular transparent surfaces are visible throughout the hyalite. Ex. Lucile Squier (1905-2007) collection #588, originally acquired in 1972
