Locality: | Tri-State Lead-Zinc Mining District, near Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri |
Description: | Lustrous red-brown transparent-to-translucent sphalerite crystals to 10 mm with scattered yellow-metallic chalcopyrite crystals to 3 mm on quartz-lined cavities in gray chert. The small sphalerite crystals exhibit transparency when viewed under 20x. Ex. Lucile Squier (1905-2007) collection #1278 |
