Mineral:Acanthite pseudomorphs after Argentite
Locality:Gowganda, Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada
Description:Lustrous gray-metallic pseudo-cubic acanthite pseudomorphs after argentite crystals to 6 mm in a branching formation. The argentite crystallized first, but is stable only above 179° C, then it cooled and altered to acanthite resulting in pseudomorphs.
