Mineral:Sphalerite with epitaxial Chalcopyrite overgrowth
Locality:Mid-Continent Mine, Picher, Ottawa County, Oklahoma
Description:Lustrous translucent brown sphalerite crystals to 20 mm with overgrowth of yellow-metallic chalcopyrite crystals to 3 mm. The chalcopyrite crystals are epitaxially oriented to the crystal structure of the sphalerite resulting in parallel orientation. Ex. D. Miller collection #M1979
