Description: | Large translucent gray tabular hexagonal calcite crystals to 80 mm with a second generation of gray calcite microcrystals on the broad crystal faces found ca. 1847 during the construction of the Hudson River Railroad on the east shore of the river. Collected ca. 1847; ex. Peter Zodac (1894-1967), founder of Rocks and Mineral magazine, acquired from Wards December 26, 1950; see my article Anthony's Nose, New York: a Review of Three Mineral Localities (1998) |
