Mineral:Quartz var. Amethyst with pseudomorphic molds after Anhydrite
Locality:Paterson (probably New Street Quarry), Passaic County, New Jersey
Description:Lustrous transparent purple amethyst quartz crystals to 8 mm with pseudomorphic molds where the quartz crystallized over tapered anhydrite crystals to 45 mm that subsequently dissolved leaving voids. The amethyst crystals have uncommonly deep color. Ex. Harry W. Eichel, Jr. (1914-1990); ex. Phil-Mont Christian Academy
