Locality:Gold panning prospect, Fanning County, Georgia
Description:Three earthy brown limonite pseudomorphs after rectangular pyrite crystals found while panning for gold. The pyrite crystallized first, then altered molecule-by-molecule to limonite while maintaining the original pyrite shape (pseudomorph = false form).
