Mineral:Quartz pseudomorph after Viviparous Reesidei
Locality:Brushy Basin Formation, Fruita, Mesa County, Colorado
Description:Translucent pink-to-brown quartz pseudomorph after a spiral brachiopod Viviparus Reesidei. The brachiopod was buried and slowly replaced by quartz, forming a pseudomorph or fossil. Minor tan-colored matrix remain on the side where it was attached.
