Locality:road cut on Rt. 600 (Coffee Pot Road), near Dotsero, Eagle County, Colorado
Description:Well-defined lustrous brown goethite pseudomorphs after striated cubic pyrite crystals to 6 mm. Pyrite, FeS2, crystallized first, then altered molecule-by-molecule to goethite, Fe3+O(OH), maintaining the original pyrite shape. Pseudomorph = false form. Collected in August 1994
