Mineral:Quartz var. Smoky Quartz with Hyalite Opal and Calcite
Locality:Upper New Street Quarry, Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey
Description:Rare specimen from this locality of hyalite opal partial coating on lustrous transparent smoky quartz crystals to 8 mm intermixed with colorless transparent calcite crystals to 4 mm. The hyalite opal fluoresces under UV illumination (SW=green, LW=white). Collected in 1980s to 1990s by Prof. Martin Becker
