Locality:Mahenge, Morogoro Region, Tanzania
Description:Cluster of many interconnected lustrous translucent vivid-pink ruby, the pink gem variety of corundum, pseudomorphs after octahedral spinel crystals to 26 mm. The spinel formed first, then altered to ruby corundum, maintaining the original spinel shape. fluoresces under LW-SW UV illumination. Ex. Cal Graeber
