Locality:Tilly Foster Iron Mine, near Brewster, Putnam County, New York
Description:Classic combination of lustrous transparent dark-red chondrodite crystals to 5 mm with columnar greenish-gray mica-like clinochlore crystals to 5 mm and dark gray-metallic dodecahedral magnetite crystals to 9 mm with light-colored serpentine. Ex. University of Arizona collection No. 2226; originally acquired from Wards. This mine closed in 1897 after a tragic mine collapse.
